Line Therapist Position Description
The primary responsibility of a line therapist is to develop a relationship with an individual child who is challenged by the diagnosis of Autism. In developing a relationship with a child, you will in turn be helping that child develop the necessary skills to form relationships with others. A playful and engaging attitude is a must.
Specifics:
Must be at least 18 years old*
Must have high school diploma*
Must have reliable transportation
Part time position - new hires usually start with 6-12 hours per week
Prior experience preferred but not necessary**
Paid training
Minimum of 6 hours/week in 2-3 hour shifts
As noted in the "Letter to Applicants" above, our clients need consistent team members who will stay on the team for an extended period of time. We ask new hires to commit to a minimum of 6 months on the job following their training. If you can not commit to 6 months with our agency, please do not apply for the position.
* State of Wisconsin requirement for the Intensive In-Home Autism Program
** Training is provided by IDS clinical staff via internet, clinic-based training modules, and 1:1 training in clients' homes. Applicants with no prior experience must complete 30 hours of paid training before working alone with a child.
